When it rains it pours
Just hooked up Michael to his cycler Tuesday night and noticed he was soaking wet and water on the floor. Come to find out it was dialysate.
Michael's tenkoff (dialysis) catheter sprung a leak. So I packed up the diaper bag and Michael and headed down to Riley at 9pm at night. My thoughts were racing wondering if we would have another hospital stay and if he would end up having surgery to replace the catheter. Thank goodness no surgery. We arrived at midnight and was met by Tina (Michale's usual dialysis nurse) who had the pleasure of being on call that night.
She replaced the end of the catheter and infused some fluid with antibiotics and sent us on our way. It took all of about 20 minutes. The procedure actually took less time than me driving there and back. Not a trip I would like to take again any time soon. We ended up back home at 3:30 am tired and slap happy.
Michael is no worse for the wear. He takes all of this in stride. Nothing much ever gets him down.
